Euro Fixed Income at BlackRock

Investment Team

• Nearly 200 fixed income investment professionals in New York, London, Edinburgh, Tokyo and Singapore
• More than half the team has ten or more years of investment experience

BlackRock applies a team approach to portfolio management, believing this offers substantial benefits over one that is dependent on the investment expertise of only one or two people. BlackRock’s Euro Bond strategy is managed by the Euro Fixed Income Portfolio Team, under the direction of Michael Krautzberger. Michael works closely with Scott Thiel, Deputy CIO of Fixed Income, in managing the portfolios.  Tom Mondelaers and Marc Rovers are the senior credit portfolio managers in the team and Chris Allen, Beata Harasim and Neil Weller focus on Euro rates and currency.  Katharine Dryer works as a product specialist for the team. 

Structure of the Euro Fixed Income Portfolio Team

• BlackRock’s Investment Teams are focused primarily on idea generation, and include over 40 dedicated research analysts who cover corporate and municipal issuers worldwide, as well as structured products such as asset-backed, mortgage-backed, and commercial mortgage-backed securities.
• The Investment Teams feed into the formal centralised Market Outlook Meeting which is then used to drive decisions at the Portfolio Strategy Meeting. The outcome of these meetings is then used as a key input into the local Euro team meeting where appropriate implementation and sizing of strategies is discussed and determined at the detailed portfolio level. Access to the Global Resources of the BlackRock Organisation:
BlackRock’s Euro Fixed Income team is integrated into the broader global fixed income team as well as interacting with the equity and alternatives professionals worldwide. The global fixed income team shares information regarding macroeconomic, industry and company issues. There is frequent formal interaction between the offices via calls and meetings, as well as regular intra-day interaction.
